Footprints and Dreams: Pilgrimage Tales from León

We finally reached León. I was so sorry for overworking my feet. Towards the end, they seem to rebel, protesting that they couldn’t take another step.

It’s been chaotic since this morning. I’ve endured countless sleepless nights in anticipation of seeing the Milky Way, but we ended up leaving at 5 o’clock due to my lazy companions.

The sky was filled with countless stars… It was exhilaration, my body reacting with excitement. I found myself craning my neck to gaze at the stars the entire time we walked, but it brought me immense joy.

Is this the feeling of pursuing our passions? I hope to experience it fully one day.

I had a conversation with some new companions yesterday. They were young but deeply contemplative, pursuing their dreams without regret. I envied them, but I’m determined to find my own path and inspire others as well.

"The journey of life is too short as compare with the journey of time, so keep your time." Let’s live without regrets!

We encountered a group of rabbits, traversed paths that bore the marks of the Roman era (through they felt like simple trails), and felt the rush of wind from passing trains. It was a fulfilling day.

Upon reaching León, exhaustion hit me like a ton of bricks, and I simply followed my body’s cues.

Since we arrived in one of the largest cities along the pilgrimage route, we took the opportunity to explore and do some shopping. I hope to uncover more signs of life’s journey here.

Mr. Kim remarked that Koreans traveling abroad often struggle with English. Another Korean advised him to remember this feeling and to persevere in language study upon returning to Korea. It resonates with my own situation; I refuse to forget this feeling and will conquer English one day!

It’s our second day in León.

Starting the day felt incredibly refreshing because we’re staying an extra day in the same city, allowing us to savor the relaxation and joy of breaking from our daily routines.

Although we couldn’t extend our stay at the same accommodation due to the pilgrimage rule, we leisurely left at 8 am and enjoyed a European breakfast at the plaza. European flat peaches are absolutely delicious!

Yesterday was pure bliss. While someone once said that happiness isn’t a feeling, I genuinely felt it coursing through my body, from head to toe. Words can’t capture that sensation.

Meeting fellow pilgrims who began the journey at the same time is rare, given everyone’s different paces and daily choices. So, if we encounter them again after a long time, it would be a warm reunion.

Encountering both familiar faces and unexpected acquaintances brought me another level of joy. Additionally, I attended a small-scale busking performance by a talented individual named Brad at our accommodation. Despite its modest scale, it made me feel like a part of the performance, creating a truly magical night. I doubt I’ll experience such a feeling again in my lifetime…

I had a realization that I might be the one keeping my distance from other people. It feels like I’m doing the dumbest thing, drawing lines by myself, even though people actually like me.

The cathedral at dawn exudes tranquility and beauty. It speaks for itself; the word “beautiful” says it all.

After jotting down some Korean words on a kind Belgian guy’s note, I attended Mass. It felt like a cleansing experience for both my body and mind, Experiences like these are invaluable, and I’ll cherish this feeling forever.
