Milestones: Insights Along the Pilgrimage

The distance seems a bit stretched out, maybe because of the rain at the start, making it feel longer. As we walk, there are small villages as daily milestones, major cities as intermediate goals, and Santiago as the ultimate destination. It feels like I'm losing sight of the simple joy of achieving daily goals. Instead, I find myself fixating solely on reaching major cities, trivializing the smaller stops. Let's take a moment to reflect and appreciate the little pleasures along the journey.

 

Today, as I walked, I found myself contemplating the competition I read about in the guest book yesterday. I wondered if I, too, had overlooked anything amidst the unnecessary rivalry on my journey.

The charm of obtaining a certificate for completing the 100-kilometer stretch leading to Santiago, our final destination, draws more pilgrims as we near journey’s end. Consequently, the competitive atmosphere mentioned yesterday implies the need to secure daily lodgings promptly to avoid the possibility of sleeping outdoors. Reflecting on this, I councluded: “Embrace the challenge if avoidance isn’t an option!”

 

Recalling an anecdote from Mr. Lee’s military service, where being acknowledged by one’s successor was deemed a mark of a successful military career, I realized its lasting impact.

 

Reflecting on yesterday’s homework, which emphasized striking a balance between determination and making thoughtful choices, it was decided that I would maintain my determination and drive while also putting in the necessary effor to ensure that my choices are well-considered and right.

 

Acknowledging my taciturn nature, I once contemplated changing it. However, I now see the value in embracing it as a strenghts rather than a weakness. When comtemplating how to exude charisma effortlessly, a quote from the book “The power of silence is strong” crossed my mind.

 

As I continue the pilgrimage to Santiago, I remind myself to focus on the journey’s purpose, enjoying each moment without succumbing to pressure to somehow find the answer to why I’m here. Perhaps the answers I seek have already presented themselves, unbeknownst to me.
